It combines the very best elements of The Legend of Zelda and Persona while adding its own Austrian charm to it that makes it such an endearing and critically acclaimed game. Players take on the role of Luisa as she heads to the idyllic Hinterberg resort in the Austrian Alps in search of much-needed respite and a sense of self. While there, she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, clearing challenging dungeons filled with puzzles and monsters before mingling with the locals and fellow tourists.

Naturally, the dungeon component comes straight from The Legend of Zelda, with each one utilizing a magical ability that's unique to a particular region. There are four main regions in the game and 25 dungeons to clear, with each one scaling up in difficulty. Players will need to solve a series of intricate yet never punishing puzzles while also taking on well-designed enemies and bosses using their wide variety of skills and magical abilities.

When they're not dungeon-delving, fans can explore Hinterberg. Dungeons of Hinterberg utilizes Persona's daily structure, with players venturing out to one of the regions during the day before spending the evening either hanging out with one of the main characters, engaging in some light shopping, or taking part in some of the local entertainment. All the characters are exceptionally delightful and, just like in Persona, deepening a bond with one of them unlocks vital gameplay benefits.

Thanks to its daily structure, it is easy to pick up Dungeons of Hinterberg at any time and indulge in some dungeon clearing. The game itself will take players around 14 hours to beat, but the New Game Plus mode and a plethora of optional content can easily extend that to so much longer.

Dungeons of Hinterberg is perfect for those who enjoy the classic Zelda experience or have been looking for more action-focused social sims like Persona. Of course, it is also very much its own game, and while it draws inspiration from those titles, Dungeons of Hinterberg feels incredibly fresh and unique.
